  The left side is SINISTER, seriously. Well, it was always thought so, and in medical terminology still is. One of my favorite terms is Ocular Sinister, not sure why, I just always liked the sound of it. My father and daughter were/are both Lefties. My father is long dead now, but was born very early last century and was made to undergo all sorts of torturous punishments in school only a small portion of which were due to his being left-handed. When he'd tell stories about those punishments it was always with humor and never with self-pity or in an attempt to gain the pity of others. The punishments were horrific, beatings with rubber hoses stands out, maybe because rubber hoses then weren't flimsy little things like they are today, other things which would mortify us today, he'd be on the verge of laughter while telling them... there's something special about listening to old people share stories like that, just matter of fact, or with humor, I miss that.
